The Timballo di Aquilano di Tossicia Festival is a well-established and prestigious culinary event organized by the Pro Loco association of Aquilano, dedicated to promoting a traditional dish from this area of the Teramo province. This dish follows an ancient recipe that substitutes puff pastry with scrippelle (made from milk or water, eggs, and flour) to separate the layers of filling ingredients. Traditionally prepared for grand public and private celebrations, including wedding feasts in the rural areas of Teramo, the timballo made with scrippelle requires a lengthy preparation process. During the festival, this responsibility is undertaken by the village women.
