Living Nativity Scene
Initiated by the parish priest Don Nicola Jobbi and the community of Cerqueto at Christmas in 1966, the Living Nativity Scene is a theatrical representation that engages the entire town. From the intricate and meticulous direction to the creation of the narrated text and soundtrack, as well as the participation in various roles, the performance brings to life the sacred story—tracing its course from the origins of Creation to the birth of Jesus and the homage of the shepherds and Magi. Staged on the rocky ridge overlooking the town, with lighting that enhances the natural cavities and the scenic variations offered by the vegetation, the Living Nativity Scene, organized by the Pro Loco of Cerqueto, stands as one of Italy’s most evocative portrayals of the Nativity.
