Feast of Blessed Andrea
Municipality of Campotosto
Feast of Blessed Andrea
Every year, on the last Sunday of May or the first Sunday of June, Mascioni commemorates Blessed Andrea, an important figure in the Church, who was born in the small hamlet of Laga. These celebrations, which have been held since the 15th century, feature solemn masses and a procession spanning about six kilometers from the Cardito area to the mountain church, drawing both the local community and tourists visiting Lake Campotosto.
Before the procession begins, the brotherhood and faithful gather at the village church, where the statue of Blessed Andrea is dressed in flowers and sacred garments. Following the mass, the statue is lifted and carried on the shoulders of the faithful. The procession makes its way through the village’s main streets, continuing along a mountain path, all while accompanied by religious songs and prayers. There are brief stops at designated points along the route. Taking part in the celebration of Blessed Andrea offers an opportunity to connect with local religious traditions and experience a sense of shared faith.
