Fair and Feast of the Assunta

Municipality of Castel Castagna
Fair and Feast of the Assunta
The blessing of children on the Feast of the Assumption in Ronzano di Castel Castagna is the central event of the celebration held annually on August 15. It carries deep religious and cultural significance for the local community. During the ceremony, children, along with their families, are brought to the Church of Santa Maria to receive a blessing with the relic of the Holy Cross, a gesture that also serves to pass on spiritual values to the younger generations. Simultaneously with the religious celebration, the Fair of the Assunta takes place, a historic event tied to the region’s agricultural and pastoral traditions. One of the oldest and longest-standing fairs in Abruzzo, its origins date back to the Middle Ages. Visitors can enjoy historical reenactments, displays of vintage tractors, markets featuring local products and crafts, exhibitions of Marchigiana cattle, and food stalls offering regional specialties.
